Comment en Hachage Large Fichiers
Calculer hashes of files too large to fit in memory using streaming hash computation.
问题
You besoin en hachage un multi-gigabyte fichier mais ne peut pas charger it entirely en memory.
Prérequis
- Understanding of hash functions
- Knowledge of streaming/chunked processing
Étapes
-
1. Open the file as a stream
Open the file for reading as a stream rather than loading it all at once. This allows processing files of any size with constant memory usage. Read the file in fixed-size chunks (e.g., 64 KB or 1 MB).
entréelarge-file.bin (5 GB)输出stream opened -
2. Update the hash incrementally
Initialize the hash (e.g., SHA-256), then update it with each chunk as it is read. The hash function supports incremental updates: it processes each chunk and maintains internal state. Do not reset the hash between chunks.
entréechunk 1 → update → chunk 2 → update → ...输出hash state accumulates -
3. Finalize and output the digest
After the last chunk, finalize the hash to produce the digest. The result is identical to hashing the entire file at once. Output as hex or Base64. This streaming approach works for files of any size.

Résultat attendu
Le correct hachage de un large fichier, computed avec constant memory usage regardless de fichier taille.
Erreurs courantes
- Running out of memory
- Use streaming/chunked updates instead of loading the whole file. Read in 64 KB or 1 MB chunks.
- Different hash when re-running
- Ensure the file is not being modified while hashing. Also check for encoding or line-ending normalization by the file system.
Dépannage指引
- If the hash is slow, increase the chunk size to reduce I/O overhead.
- Verify the file size matches expectations before and after hashing.
Limites de sécurité
- Streaming hashing does not weaken security. The result is identical to non-streaming.
- All hashing is local; the file never leaves your machine.
