Häufige Fragen
- Why percent-encode a URL?
- Certain characters such as spaces and '&' have special meaning in URLs. Percent-encoding makes them safe to transmit without breaking the URL structure.
- What is the difference between component and full URL modes?
- Component mode encodes every reserved character (like encodeURIComponent), while full URL mode preserves URL structure such as '://', '?', '#', and '&', encoding only spaces and truly unsafe characters.
- How are spaces encoded?
- Spaces are encoded as %20 (not '+'). The + encoding is specific to application/x-www-form-urlencoded in HTML forms; %20 is the correct general-purpose encoding for URL paths and query parameters.
- Which characters are left unencoded?
- Unreserved characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, '-', '.', '_', and '~' are never encoded. In full URL mode, reserved characters like ':', '/', '?', '&', '=' are also preserved.
- How are multibyte characters handled?
- Characters are encoded to bytes using the selected charset (UTF-8 by default), then each byte is percent-encoded. '你好' becomes %E4%BD%A0%E5%A5%BD in UTF-8.
- Werden meine Daten irgendwo hochgeladen?
- Nein. Die gesamte Codierung erfolgt lokal in Ihrem Browser, ohne Server-Roundtrip.
