Häufige Fragen

Was macht percent-decoding?
It converts sequences like %20 back into their original characters, such as a space. %E4%BD%A0 becomes '你' in UTF-8.
What if the input has a truncated percent sign?
The tool reports 'Invalid percent-encoding' so you can fix the source data. A lone '%' at the end or followed by non-hex characters triggers this error.
Does the tool handle + as space?
No. The decoder treats '+' literally. The + → space convention only applies to application/x-www-form-urlencoded form data; URL paths and query parameters use %20 for spaces.
Which character sets are supported?
UTF-8 (default), ASCII, Latin1, and UTF-16LE. Choose UTF-8 for multilingual text; Latin1 for legacy Western European data; UTF-16LE for Windows-native content.
Can I decode a full URL?
Yes. The decoder processes the entire input; unencoded characters pass through unchanged, so 'https://x.com/a%20b' decodes to 'https://x.com/a b'.
Why does decoded text show replacement characters ()?
This usually means the wrong character set was selected. If the original was UTF-8 but you decode as Latin1, multibyte sequences become individual Latin1 characters. Switch the charset to UTF-8.
