Namespaces and Extensions

RSS 2.0 supports extension modules via XML namespaces. Common extensions include Media RSS (media:), Dublin Core (dc:), and Content (content:). The Atom syndication format is a newer, more rigorous alternative. RSS dates use RFC 822 format. The guid element should be a globally unique identifier, often a permalink. RSS is used for blog feeds, news, and podcast distribution.
