PIPELINE Encoding & Decoding Beginner 2 steps

Convert Octal to Binary

Unix file permissions and some legacy systems represent values in octal. When you need the binary form — for example to inspect individual permission bits — this chain decodes the octal input and encodes the result as binary. Each octal digit maps to exactly three binary digits, making the conversion lossless and easy to verify by hand.

What it solves

Decode an octal (base-8) number into its numeric value and re-encode as a binary string.

Input → Output

Octal Decode input → Binary Encoder output across 2 steps.

Runs in

1–2 minutes · fully local in your browser.

Before you start

  • A valid octal string using digits 0-7

The pipeline

  1. 1 Octal Decode octal-decode

Convert octal (base-8) bytes back to text. Free, private, 100% client-side.

  2. 2 Binary Encoder binary-encode

Encode text to binary (base-2) online. Free, private, and 100% client-side.
