Preguntas frecuentes

Does the tool auto-detect seconds vs milliseconds?
Yes. A 10-digit value is treated as seconds and a 13-digit value as milliseconds. Values below 1e12 are multiplied by 1000.
Can I convert a date string to a timestamp?
Yes. Paste any date string parseable by JavaScript (ISO 8601, RFC 2822, etc.) and the tool returns the Unix timestamp.
What output formats are shown?
The tool displays Unix timestamp in both seconds and milliseconds, plus the UTC (ISO 8601) and local time representations.
What is the Unix epoch?
The Unix epoch is 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. Unix timestamps count seconds (or milliseconds) from this reference point. Negative values represent dates before 1970.
Why does my date string parse differently across browsers?
Non-ISO date strings (e.g. '01/15/2023') are parsed according to local timezone and may vary by browser. ISO 8601 strings (e.g. '2023-01-15T10:30:00Z') are parsed consistently.
Is the 2038 problem relevant?
JavaScript Date supports up to ±8.64e15 milliseconds (year 275760), so 32-bit signed integer overflow (Jan 19, 2038) does not apply. Legacy C programs may still be affected.
