WASM Validate

WASM validation checks whether bytecode conforms to the WASM specification (types, structure, memory bounds); a validated module is guaranteed to execute without undefined behavior.

Purpose

To validate WASM bytecode legitimacy before instantiation, ensuring safe execution without undefined behavior.

Mechanism

WebAssembly.validate(bytes)→bool: checks bytecode type consistency, control-flow structure, memory/table bounds, and function signature matching. Passing validation guarantees safe execution (no out-of-bounds, no type errors). Failure rejects instantiation.

Use cases

  • WASM safety validation
  • Bytecode checking
  • Pre-compilation validation
