TOML Tables
TOML tables define key-value mappings with [table] headers, supporting dotted nesting [parent.child] and array tables [[array]]; they are TOML's object type.
Purpose
To organize structured data as named mappings in TOML configuration, with nesting and arrays.
Mechanism
[name] defines a table header, and subsequent key-value pairs belong to it; [a.b.c] defines nested tables with dotted names; [[items]] appends an element to an array table. Table names must be unique—redefinition is an error (except for array tables).
Use cases
- Structured TOML configuration
- Nested configuration sections
- Array configuration
