STOMP
STOMP is a simple text-oriented messaging protocol offering frame commands such as CONNECT/SEND/SUBSCRIBE to talk to AMQP brokers.
Purpose
It gives web and multi-language clients a simple text protocol for message brokers, without needing an AMQP binary library.
Mechanism
A frame is text: a command line, header key-value pairs, a blank line, the body, and NULL. CONNECT authenticates, SUBSCRIBE subscribes to a destination, and SEND publishes. Frames are separated by NULL. STOMP frames ride over WebSocket for real-time web use.
Use cases
- WebSocket messaging
- Simple messaging clients
- Cross-language broker access
