Slide Attack
The slide attack exploits self-similarity in ciphers whose rounds share an identical structure, constructing "slid pairs" that align one round’s output with another round’s input to recover the key.
Purpose
It attacks ciphers with highly uniform round structure (classic DES variants, Feistel ciphers) independently of the round count.
Mechanism
Find a plaintext pair (P, P′) with P′ = F(P) (one round); the corresponding ciphertext pair then satisfies C′ = F(C), forming slide equations that solve for the key. Attack complexity is independent of the number of rounds.
