SIMD

SIMD is a SHA-3 competition submission by Leurent, an ARX hash that uses SIMD instructions to process multiple lanes in parallel.

Purpose

A SHA-3 competition candidate exploiting SIMD instruction parallelism; weaknesses were later found.

Mechanism

The state is organized as multiple parallel lanes (4 or 8), each an ARX round function, with one SIMD instruction processing all lanes. Message expansion and chaining-value updates run in parallel.

Use cases

  • SHA-3 competition submission
  • SIMD acceleration
  • ARX hash
