Hash-Pipe
Hash-Pipe is a sponge-based streaming hash scheme using a three-stage pipeline (absorb, mix, squeeze) for streaming hashes.
Purpose
Provides low-latency hashing for streaming data, with input and output pipelineable in parallel.
Mechanism
The state is split into absorb, mix, and squeeze sections; a new block is XORed into the absorb section before the permutation runs, the mix section diffuses across the full state, and the squeeze section outputs the digest. The three stages can be pipelined.
Use cases
- Streaming hashing
- Low-latency digests
- Pipelined implementations
