DCTCP
DCTCP is a data-center-optimized TCP congestion control that fine-tunes its window using the fraction of ECN-marked packets, fitting low-latency, high-bandwidth data centers.
Purpose
It delivers low buffer occupancy and low latency in data-center environments, suiting DC networks better than Reno/CUBIC.
Mechanism
The switch marks ECN with some probability once the queue exceeds a threshold; the host measures the marking fraction α and scales cwnd by (1-α/2) instead of halving it outright, adapting precisely to the degree of congestion.
Use cases
- Data center TCP
- Low latency at high bandwidth
- Cloud networks
