Clean Code

Clean code follows principles such as clear naming, single responsibility, minimal dependencies, and thorough testing, making it easy to read and maintain.

Purpose

Improve code readability and maintainability, reducing defect rates and the cost of change.

Mechanism

Meaningful names, short single-responsibility functions, no side effects, appropriate comments (explaining why, not what), solid error handling, and no duplication. Test-driven development guarantees correct behavior. Martin's Clean Code is the classic reference.

Use cases

  • Code quality
  • Maintainability
  • Team collaboration
