BLAKE2s

BLAKE2s is the 32-bit-word variant of BLAKE2, outputting 1-32 byte digests; efficient on 32-bit and embedded platforms — the small counterpart to BLAKE2b.

Purpose

Provides fast hashing on 32-bit and embedded platforms, with output and security level suited to medium-security scenarios.

Mechanism

Same structure as BLAKE2b but with 32-bit words, 10 rounds of compression function G, and a state of 8×32-bit words. Parameterization and tree mode are symmetric with BLAKE2b.

Use cases

  • Embedded hashing
  • 32-bit platform file verification
  • Lightweight digests
