SOAP Protocol Referencia
Referencia para SOAP 1.2 protocol: envelopes, WSDL, headers, faults, y WS-* extensions.
Message Structure
SOAP messages are XML documents with an Envelope containing an optional Header and a mandatory Body. The Header carries metadata like authentication, routing, and transaction info. The Body contains the actual payload. Fault elements report errors with code, reason, and detail. SOAP can run over HTTP, SMTP, JMS, and other transports. The protocol is verbose but extensible and standardized.

WSDL (Web Services Description Language) describes service operations, bindings, and endpoints. SOAP encoding rules define how types map to XML. WS-Security adds message-level encryption and signatures. WS-Addressing provides message routing metadata. WS-ReliableMessaging ensures delivery guarantees. The WS-* stack provides enterprise features but adds complexity. SOAP is used in legacy enterprise and financial systems.
